RESIDENT VISITATION UPDATE

Reviewed 3-17-2023

MESSAGE TO ALL OF OUR VISITORS:

Update on Visitor Testing for COVID-19

Please be advised that today, St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2023 the Department of Health recommends that facilities continue to conduct passive screening for COVID-19  and have proper  signage throughout the facility and that visitors are educated on COVID-19 to know symptoms, infection control precautions and other facility practices that include the use of covering (masks) to cover your mouth and nose and continued reminders of hand hygiene.

The community level has changed from high to Substantial and therefore we will not be testing visitors at this time.  You must continue to sign in at the visitor kiosk and you must continue to wear masks and wash your hands frequently.  Should the community transmission level return to High we may decide to follow CDC recommendations for testing but at this time we will discontinue this practice.  Please do not visit if you have a fever or other COVID-19 or Influenza symptoms.

Visitation Requirements:

• Physically distance from facility personnel and other patients/residents/visitors that are not directly associated with the specific resident(s) being visited by that individual."

Often during rounds, we have had to remind family and friends not to take off their masks while visiting. Of course, you may continue to bring treats and other food items to residents.  As you are aware we are struggling with staffing due to the virus and how it has affected our staff as much as it has affected our residents.  Although able to bring staff back quicker, we must only bring them back from being ill if they are asymptomatic.  Therefore, not everyone falls into the five-day category, and some are out much longer.

Also, please think about getting your booster.  Boosters are available for our residents so if your family member has not yet received their booster, please speak with the unit nurse or the nursing supervisor.  For yourselves, the booster is being offered at almost every pharmacy on Staten Island as well as vaccine sites.

Please contact your health professional with any questions.

If you find out after you visited that you are COVID+ or have been in close contact with someone who is COVID+ please notify the facility nursing supervisor immediately so we can begin contact tracing.
Please help us keep COVID out of our facility.  We are trying to do everything we can to keep your family member safe.

I want to thank you for your assistance and cooperation.  Please inform your other family and friends who visit and we will also limit the number of visitors at one time to two.

Again, your ongoing support is greatly appreciated.  Stay safe, wear your mask, and remember to be vaccinated and boosted.

The facility has reviewed and updated our Pandemic Emergency Plan which is posted on our website under the Pandemic Emergency Plan tab - if you have any questions please reach out to Administration.
